A note about copyright
All the images and photos on this website are copyrighted and are protected by federal law.
The fact that it is easy to copy/save/download photos and graphics has deluded people to believe that downloading copyrighted material from websites without permission is okay. It's not.
That said, if you are in a band you have my permission to use your band photo(s) only under the following conditions:
- You may only post the photo on your band on your band website or band-related website (MySpace, Pure Volume, etc);
- The Shoot from the Belly watermark must remain on the photo;
- You may not edit the photo in any way, shape, or form -- even to crop it to make icons and avatars;
- You must link to my website (http://shootfromthebelly.com) on each page that has a photo.
- By posting the photo on your website, you implicitly agree to be bound by these terms.

Violating this license will subject you to inflated licensing fees and possibly even legal action.
For the rest of you ... you may download any photo or graphic to your personal computer for your own enjoyment, but you must not distribute it -- in whole or in part -- by any means whatsover, without express permission from the owner (that's me). This includes, but is not limited to: printing, e-mailing, and posting/displaying on a website (which also includes using the images in whole or as a base for avatars and user icons).
Again ... violating this copyright will subject you to inflated licensing fees and possibly even legal action.
Yes, even though a person or band is the subject of a photograph, the copyright still belongs to the photographer and therefore the photo may not be used in any way, by any person (including the band) without prior permission and a license.
Photography is an art form just like any other and is protected by the same copyright laws. It might not seem "right" that you can't use a photo of yourself or your band without permission, but that's how it is. You wouldn't just hand over the rights to your songs for me to do whatever the hell I want to with them, would you?
So, if you wish to use or distribute a photo or graphic from this site outside of the usage terms stated above, e-mail me with your contact information and request. My licensing fees are quite reasonable.
I view the act of showing off the photos I take as publicity for the bands I enjoy. Despite this, a person or band does have a say as to whether or not s/he is represented on this site. If you do not want your image displayed on this website, e-mail me and I will remove the photo(s).
